In the latest issue of Combat Handguns, there is a story where an older woman used a PUG to terminate a threat of a person who tried to rob her at knife point. Also there is an article on 22 Magnum self defense ammo being made by Speer with the components being supplied by CCI (same company). I think the SD story might have been in response to Sandy's request on this forum a couple of months ago. Top Dog |

I always like it when a "victim" produces a mini and turns the tables on the bad guy. The first thing I turn to when I receive my copy of the "Rifleman" is the Armed Citizen. In Combat Handguns,I turn to "It Happened to Me" section first. Always makes for interesting reading. Top Dog |

I agree topdog, I like to hear stories of innocent citizens turning the tables on dirtbags. I love her foresight and self-determination, plus she cut out the middleman(drug dealer) and instead of handing over money for crack, gave him a "crack" in the skull, d.r.t. She may have left a larger gun at home, glad she had a pug; and saved taxpayers from incarcerating him. may sound cold but I don't feel sympathy for those that would threaten, rob, harm women and children. that story may have originated with grayelky? |

I just wonder what went through that dirtbags head (other than the bullet)the instant before the incident came to a screeching halt. For forty years I was an LEO and I share your feelings for the dirtbags. They that prey upon the weak and elderly are basically cowards and when the table is turned, deserve exactly what they get. I know it is off topic but has anyone here opted for the online issues of the NRA publications? I tried to and they said it was "off option" now, whatever that means... |

Silvershooter- I did submit an event that happened in Atlanta with a lady in her late 50's/early 60's. I have not read the article yet, maybe I will pick up the magazine if I am out today. As far as the dirt bags, my philosophy is a little different than most: If God wants you dead, no man can keep you alive. If God wants you alive, no man can kill you. The dirt bags make the decision to get shot when they pick on armed citizens, as opposed to subjects. My only function in the equation is to assist God in His will, or keep a team of surgeons busy for several hours. |

Gray, she shot from inside her purse. I think you've mentioned the story once on the forum. The bad guy pulled knife on her while she was walking in georgia. Seems she pointed purse toward chest but made a head shot instead. |

I picked up the magazine this evening. Yes, that is the story I submitted. The Pug is what confused me. The magazine ran a picture of a Pug with the article, yet named the firearm as a 1 1/8'Min magnum, which is correct. Heck they even gave me credit!! Well, kinda. It closed with "LL in GA" For those interested. I will sign copies of your Combat Handguns issue at no charge.... Sorry Chopprs. Hope you had not just finished breakfast again! |

Grayelky, I agree entirely with your philosophy on the Good Lord with the dirtbags. I am interested if they will run my story in some future issue. By seeing the photo of the PUG in the article,I assumed that was the gun used. No problem, the 1 1/8" mini magnum settled the guys hash just the same. I wonder if he thought that when she reached into her purse, that she was going to pull out some money??? My respect for the little woman who refused to be a victim and a hearty JOB WELL DONE. I just hope that no legal action was brought against her. Top Dog |

The closest thing to legal action was all the fool questions that had to be asked. In GA, it was sent to the Grand Jury for consideration for indictment. Once they No-Billed it (refused to indict), that is the end of any possible criminal action. It is my understanding the beat officers wanted her to walk up and down the streets.....

AH,yes, the little old lady on patrol to lure the dirtbags out!!!!! I am glad that she got No-Billed,does that mean that she also will not be sued by some long lost relative of the deceased????? This past year we have seen two ladies use remarkable courage in dealing with jerks. The one in Tallahassee where the clown disrupted a town meeting and the woman tried to knock the gun out of his hand with her purse and in Memphis where the woman wrestled the gun out of the jerks hand after he shot a bunch of folks. Gutsy ladies and I salute them one and all. Ladies-3,Clowns-0 Top Dog |

Unfortunately, the civil legal system here in GA has the same soul less money-worshipers as the rest of the world. In theory, she can be sued. If she had ga-zillions of dollars, I am sure an attorney could be found who would go after her, hoping for a settlement. To my knowledge, no action was taken against her. It will take a pretty hard core soul less bast*** to try and sue a 55-60 year old woman for defending herself. And they have to have a reasonable chance of winning, which, even in Fulton County, they would have a very hard time doing. You can relate to how much I despise the court system. I would have offered to freely go and testify that when I sold her the gun, she repeatedly said she did not want to hurt anyone, she just wanted them to go away and leave her alone. She wanted a little gun, just enough to scare away an attacker, not kill anyone. She was getting "...on in years...) and did not want someone to rob her or hurt her. [Notice: thread drift approaching] Just last night I had an older lady in the shop. She knows 2 older ladies who have been assaulted in the last 8 months, and she does not want to be among the victims. She no longer feels safe in her own home, and picked out a nice used Glock 22 (full size .40 S&W), with a laser, so she can protect herself. Again, I tried to steer her towards something a little closer to her hand size, but she had fired one in the past and knows she can handle it. I strongly suspect if someone breaks into her house, I may have another chance at being "published". Earlier in the day, I had a lady (late 30s/early 40s) come in w/ her brother, looking for a handgun. She no longer feels safe at her job, as she has to walk the grounds of a storage facility, and check the mini warehouses to verify none were broken into during the night. |
