Yet another example of one of those new releases I passed on when I saw it in the dealer's display. Thought it was too new... wanted to see if it would catch on. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=292416056 |

Crazy gun. The hammer strikes the nose of the bullet which pushes the striker down at the rear. The "rocket" then fires and when it overcomes the strength of the hammer spring it exits the barrel and flies, well like a rocket, not very straight. Someone got an Engineering Degree and never stopped watching Looney Tunes I guess! |

I never had any interest in one. They were always too expensive & the ammo was too plus not being reloadable. I was far more inclined to buy one of the Dardick pistols around that time but I never did. |

I've never seen one of these before, but I sure wish I had bought one! (That is, if the Buy-it-Now price results in a sale!) |

They were expensive back in the time. Yes they have probably gone up but the same amount of money invested in many other guns would be worth more now & you could at least shoot them. |

Without getting into unobtainum exotics... what common 20th century firearms have best retained value, even after normal use? As a group, my vote would go for US Military issue firearms... as sold to the public by DCM. I'm sure there are several other examples. |

Why would you want one. You can't shoot it but three times. Trying to find ammo is futile and even if you can the bullets will cost more thn the gun...AND they are old and may not even work! |

Interestingly, there have been many attempts at "caseless" ammunition... none that have endured that I can think of. Not counting nitrated paper cartridges for muzzle loaders, I would guess the first attempt was the Volcanic. The Gyro Jet and Daisy VL 22 are examples in our lifetime. And I know the US Military ran some trials for caseless ammo designs a few decades back. Most all variations failed primarily due to durability/reliability of ammo. Think of the comparison to 22 rimfire carried loose in pockets over the years. |

Heckler & Koch has been working on this idea for a while and has several examples of Modern Firearms that use caseless ammo. The G11 was developed in the sixties, I believe and there are many other examples that the US is now working on. The idea is that a soldier can carry a larger caliber and more ammunition because of the weight savings. Twenty years from now ammo as we know it will be an ancient idea....

Caseless ammo will be perfected and on the shelves of gun shops about one year before some garage tinkerer stumbles across a design for a very compact and inexpensive battery that holds a super charge. Laser rifles and pistols will flood the market to beat the Federal government's passing laws regulating them. Why yes, I do have a "Beam Me Up, Scotty" t-shirt in my closet. Why do you ask? |
